Always good Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I have eaten at Kalvas numerous times and it has always been no question good service and food. Food you can't get anywhere else in town. The steaks are tender and juicy with seasonal vegetables. There are oysters, lamb, duck and sometimes even pheasant if you order it ahead, it used to be there all the time but now it's a bit harder to convince them to get it in. Great Food Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I have been to Kalvas restaurant several times being a Parksville resident and each time I have enjoyed a wonderful meal, excellent service and a great atmosphere. I read the review from Praire Dumpling and figured out that perhaps thier pallet may be somewhat more tuned to the resturarnt next door .. the one with the great big golden M in front. Dinner in Heaven Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I heard rumors of Kalvas Restaurant all around Parksville, BC and I thought since I had a craving for seafood I thought this could be a nice dinner. I entered the room thinking maybe I should change my mind. But then i was soon seated at my table in just a small amount of time. They offered me bread and a beverage. I hadn't even had my food yet and I still think this place was amazing. I ordered the crab. After one bite I thought this was a little taste of heaven. The atmosphere of the room was amazing. I gave my compliments to the staff and gave a nice tip. But right now I have to say thank you to 2 very impotant people. 2 people who run a heck of a good restaurant. I would like to thank Chef Adel Chmait and Cherry Casaje. You guys run a tight restaurant. Thank You so much! Birthday dinner Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere My boyfriend and I had heard rumors of great seafood. Bored of sushi, which was my birthday request, my boyfriend offered Kalvas. We walked in, were sat and promptly brought water and bread. After drooling over the menu I ordered the prawns and scallops and he ordered the steak and scallops. Both meals were delicious and we were continuously stealing bites off one anothers plate. We didn't realize they closed at 10. We walked in at 9:50 and they gave wonderful service. THANK YOU! Avoidable Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere We went there awhile ago after living here for six years and hearing how the food was suppose to be the best around. Often seeing the parking lot filled to capacity, we decided to give it a try. The food was awful. I had the halibut and it was old tasting and like leather. My teeth hurt after eating it. My wife went with a steak and she thought it had been left out in the sun before it was cooked as it was tough and tasted like it was old or poorly aged. The only redeeming quality was our poor waitress who hopefully will find a better place to earn a wage than continuing to associate herself with this establishment. A dinner out should be something special and this was not even close. Even the worst cook could do a better job on our meal. The food for what we received was overpriced. We should have been awarded for suffering through our evening at Kalvas. Avoid this place and you will be further ahead. There's a MacDonalds down the street.
