Place to impress Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere When my date she wanted Indian food I had no second thoughts. Being here for the first time I was so impressed. What A convenient location. Beautiful room and authentic food. Top notch service too. Fantastic wines and the manager did take good care of us personnally. Cant wait to return. Mediocre food at High prices Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Unbelievable the food was. Like the previous reviewer mentioned greasy and overly spiced. Nothing was tasting right and everything tasted the same. The service was absolutely poor. The owners has lost interest or dont know whats going on. Its running down to toi.... what happen???? Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Went with my old friend who really liked this place for chicken chettinad.Really some thing is not right the amazing host was not there,dishes were way sweet and full of grease.The waiter never came back to check only after i flagged him, he refilled my water(i can smell the smoke).While leaving i asked about the amazing host,the lady replied he is selling off the place so he rarely comes. Great Food and Excellent Ambience Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Went there for dinner Saturday night (April 18th) The prawns appy was excellent. The food was way better than your typical Indian restaurants. The Chicken Kalonjie curry entree was good but not excellent. The naans were the best ever. The noise factor is very high. I think they play the music a bit too loud ; however the total buzz is quite enchanting. Service was good. A fresh take to Indian dining. Misleading reviews Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere We were excited to go to Maurya seeing their ad emails and reviews all over. They won the best bites for appy and main last year at dov. so we made it in our must visit lists. Have to say this was the worst dining experience ever. The service was absolutely pathetic. Host the owner himself had a very rude attitude. We had to wait 30 mts for a table with reservation. No apologies too. The food our appy prawns were over cooked to rubbery hard, chicken for main hardly had any flavours another sign of mass cooking and the all so hyped creme caramel tasted cosco. No quality checks and slow service showed signs of understaff in the kitchen and service. No body asked if we even cared for another drink. One of the not so good experiences during dov. Maurya is Solid Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I had to wait one hour in line to get inside the restaurant. The crowds crazy. Well the food is so amazing it was well worth the wait. The prawns were the best i ever had, the chicken was finger lickingly good and the the creme caramel will take any of the reputed French establishments for a ride. The Host was superb, very knowledgable about anything you talk. I will vote him for the next mayor of Vancouver anytime. Well I agree this is the best Vancouver got to offer. Did you hear anything about Vijs lately. Again this is not a cheap eatery. Dont think I am releated to the establishment on any sort. The best Vancouver got to offer Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Maurya is the the most successfull restaurant in Vancouver. Recession who says so. Try beat the line ups at Maurya. Mushrooms around are wilting. With the solid food, ambience and service, the crew is the most efficient in the city. The man at the helm you host is an outstanding persona too. It is a great place for dinner just not for dov but all the year around. Again if you are eating at the macs and tim hortons you might find it expensive. But if you are used to eating at reputed places like la terrazza, west, db, Blue water cafe or cincin you will find it very reasonable. This year again they are bound to win in all catogories. Because they are soo good. The best Vancouver got to offer. Again if you have a tight wallet this is the time to treat yourself. Best Restaurant in Vancouver Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere The food here is the best and the service too. Stalwarts should stop here and learn. The Prawn appy is amazing so is chicken chettinad. The creme Caramel is the best I have ever had. This year I am sure they will win in all three catogories. Appy, main and dessert. Great DOV 2009 Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere The restaurant has a colonial feel to it. It is a beautiful restaurant with equally good food. We discovered this on our first visit to this place on Sunday January 18th, 2009 for the Dine Out Vancouver promo. The prawns appetizer was excellent. So was my bf's Chicken appy. the flavours were complex yet so yummy. For the mains my bf got the Chicken Chettinad and I got the Seafood curry. Both were outstanding. We each got different desserts. The Creme Caramel was really really good and so was the mango ice cream (Kulfa ?) The service was also great. The managaer was very courteous and a character. Funny Reviews Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere We have eaten numerous times over at Maurya but never felt it to wow us. The food for the price is below mediocre than most budget Indian places out there. Very oily and over powering spices and very shabby service is consistent with the place. But a decent dining room. Great Restaurant Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere We were a large party for my birthday last Saturday night. The owner was genourous enough to keep accepting more people in my party. I kept phoning him to add more people and he kept obliging. The food was excellent. Mediocre Indian Food Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere This place is very beautiful. Nice patio and nicely tucked in on Broadway. The high ceilings are magnificient. But food is not equally good. The chilli chicken was a huge portion but full of a kind of ketchup sauce. Our butter chicken and vindaloo was below average. Not worth it for the food. Excellent even though the menu was off Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I read some of the reviews here and ordered take out last night. The food was simply excellent. It seems like the menu here is outdated. There is a new menu that is actually on their website. They were kind enough to make me some of the older items. Culd have been a bit spicier but it is my own fault because they asked and I said mild. Next time will get it medium maybe even medium to hot. Wonderful and Surprising Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Went to Maurya with my wife and I have to say it was great. It is a grand setting set in Indian decor, yet you can maintain a peaceful romantic dinner nonetheless. We sat by the window overlooking Broadway and it felt quiet. The service was very good, and the food was spectacular. Notable favorites were the lamb-chops and the butter chicken. The curry prawns were also very good. Sagar Se Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Crap ball stuffed with minced prawns and scallops...need I say more? The best of the best as far as Indian cuisine is concerned. Maurya's dining area is dark and rich with ambiance. The vegetarian selection is way out of the ordinary.I'm convinced that they carry the best samosa in the city.
